"Anglo-Saxon Manuscripts in Microfiche Facsimile" is making available the entire corpus of the Old English language in its manuscript contexts in a relatively short time and at strikingly lower cost than conventional book-format facsimiles. The entire series of over 500 manuscripts is retailing to individual subscribers for about $4500 ($90 per volume), with the cost spread over about ten years.  The aim is to make this resource available in a convenient and economical form as an everyday study and reference tool, not only in the richest and largest libraries, but also in the libraries of individuals and smaller institutions.  Every manuscript is accompanied by a scholarly description to make it accessible and the whole series will be concluded with a general index of contents to make the vast amount of material contained in the series readily findable.  ASMMF will eventually encompass all manuscripts containing Anglo-Saxon.  Published at 2-3 month intervals, each volume includes some 40 fiches (on average) and a handsome small book of about 72 pages containing detailed MS descriptions. After every tenth volume, ASMMF will also publish an interim index, which will include both a general topic index of the manuscript descriptions, and a complete index of incipits for all published manuscripts.  The full index will accompany the final hardbound compilation of descriptions.

Anglo-Saxon Manuscripts in Microfiche Facsimile has received generous on-going support from the National Endowment for the Humanities since 1994.  ASMMF has also received grants from the Evjue Foundation and the International Society of Anglo-Saxonists, and support from the Graduate School of the University of Wisconsin-Madison.  Many individual donors have also generously supported our work.

ASMMF is published by Medieval and Renaissance Texts and Studies, and is available by subscription or by individual volume.
